چکیده
This study aims to experimentally investigate the two-group interfacial area transport in small diameter pipes. Experimental data focusing on bubbly slug transition regime, namely one-group region, are collected a 12.7 mm vertical pipe under adiabatic, air-water conditions. The result shows intergroup transfer can be drastic, especially low superficial liquid velocities. cause of this phenomenon is mainly due large relative bubble size comparing cross-sectional area. wake entrainment effect could enhanced by spherical bubbles that acting like cap or medium-size pipe. Based experimental observation, throughout analysis dependence drastic provided study. models predicting initiation pipes terms and void fraction developed. These compared with two-phase among different sizes results show good agreement. newly developed applied IATE model developing function analogous sigmoid function. With function, revised given new ability phenomenon.

Parallel LBM to Simulate Gravity Driven Bubbly and Slug Flows
Multi phase and multi component flows are ubiquitous in nature as well as in many man-made processes. Multi-phase flows typically manifest a wide variety of geometrical patterns (or flow regimes) of associated phases depending on several system conditions. These patterns include, but are not limited to, bubbly, slug, churn or annular flows. In the case of boiling this may lead to Departure from...
متن کاملEvolving Solitons in Bubbly Flows
At the end of the sixties, it was shown that pressure waves in a bubbly liquid obey the KdV equation, the nonlinear term coming from convective acceleration and the dispersive term from volume oscillations of the bubbles. For a variable u, proportional to -p , where p denotes pressure, the appropriate KdV equation can be casted in the form ut 6uu~ + u ~ = 0. The theory of this equation predicts...
متن کاملApplication of LDA to bubbly flows
The fluctuating velocity field in an air–water bubble column (i.d. 15.2 cm) at a gas fraction of 25% is investigated using backscatter LDA. Since the interpretation of LDA signals in bubbly flows is not straight forward also experiments on a single bubble train are reported. It is discussed that in the latter case when using seeding the backscatter LDA measures predominantly the liquid velocity...
متن کاملMeasurements of interfacial film thickness for immiscible liquid–liquid slug/droplet flows
Abstract A novel method for measuring the interfacial liquid film thickness between immiscible liquids of a slug/droplet in a micropipe is proposed. This method is capable of measuring an oil slug/droplet in water with the relative refractive index (m) between the immiscible liquids very close to one in a capillary tube. Unlike the measurement configuration for an air slug in water, an optical ...
متن کاملExperimental study of two and three phase flows in large diameter inclined pipes
Steady-state and transient experiments of water–gas, oil–water and oil–water–gas multiphase flows were conducted on a transparent 11 m long, 15 cm diameter, inclinable pipe using kerosene, tap water and nitrogen. The pipe inclination was varied from 0 (vertical) to 92 and the flow rates of each phase were varied over wide ranges. Fast-acting valves enabled the trapping of the fluid flowing in t...
